SPCS’s internet service is down, yet again. It was down most of last week as well. But here’s the dumb thing. The internet is not down, I know, I just connected via ppp and ssh’ed home, but it’s their damn proxy servers. And the really dumb thing is I can’t set up my own proxy server, because I can’t configure the phone to use any other.
Grr…
I’m 45 pages into Vernor Vinge’s A Deepness in the Sky. I was told it was good by zooko and I could have guessed as much by the fact that Tim May, cypherpunk ringleader, is in the acknowlegments for the book. But damn, this is good.
Just registered at the Do Not Call List. You are required to give an email address along with your phone number. It occured to me that if I was a marketer I would pay good money to get that DB, then spam away from out of the country.
I really, really want to be hacking on Mnet, esp. following certain events that have followed in the news. Jim McCoy and Ash (I haven’t even read this link yet) have posted “why mnet has stalled” but it comes down to a key reason: Zooko and icepick are busy. Maybe even simpler than that: zooko is busy.
