I really, really want to be hacking on Mnet, esp. following certain events that have followed in the news. Jim McCoy and Ash (I haven’t even read this link yet) have posted “why mnet has stalled” but it comes down to a key reason: Zooko and icepick are busy. Maybe even simpler than that: zooko is busy.
If you want to see this move forward, write code.
(this is only tried rantings)

Drove 18 hours this weekend. Took both Friday and Monday off. Now 3 days of the work week just went ZOOM, when I really don’t want them to go ZOOM. Things are complex at work.
Quote of the day: Donna, wife of Mike Trainum, my friend and boss, said this in response to him saying he might not be able to go on vacation: “I used to be married to a hippy”.
I did get the Sanyo 8100, two of them in fact. One for Laura and one for me. Mine still is not connecting to the net but I have yet to have a moment to call SprintPCS again.

Saving Private Jessica by Nicholas D. Kristof
The Iraqis misused our prisoners for their propaganda purposes, and it hurts to find out that some American officials were misusing Private Lynch the same way.

We visited Leanne today, and Laura has been thinking of having kids after seeing 1 year old Elias. Names we’ve come up for kids (you can’t steal these names, or we’ll hurt you):
Boy’s Names:
- Arthur Kirkland
- William Galbrath
- Merlin Latimer
Girl’s Names:
- Lillian Lane
- Mikayla Faye
- Madison Graham
I remember driving between Pauling and Cold Spring with Laura talking about this in the Summer before our wedding.

Back from the library. Both Laura and I feel like we spent money, because we got such cool books. I got one of the Foundation books on tape (13 hours!), for tomorrows 8 hour trip and Sunday’s 8 hour return trip. Also got two book by Vernor Vinge. zooko has told that I will greatly enjoy Vinge, and I can’t wait to dig into them.
